Just enough dry sunny weather today to get 3 flats o' flowers planted. Had a wonderful visit/dinner here with our DD & SIL. Just as they headed for home, the tornado sirens went off and it started to rain again!! :-(
I don't remember a wetter Springtime here in Michigan. The Detroit Tigers have had more rainouts this year than last year's entire season!!! We're building an ark---all are welcome!! :-)
I've posted before about procrastinating about fabric buying...thought i'd missed the boat again on Laurie Wisbrun's Tufted Tweets. Contemporary Cloth's site had it on (crazy good) sale, so I bought a wee bit of each pattern they had!! LOVE this stuff. She is so talented.
Hoping to dry out again tomorrow. This guy showed up in the garden before the storms started again! Isn't it magnificent?? Wingspan almost as big as my hand. So thrilled to have him visit our house!
Have a great holiday Monday!!

Home Dec done....!
Here's the friend's sunporch loveseat cushions covered and ready to go home after the holiday weekend!
That means I'm free to 'Finish It Up" with this project. This will be a pretty quilt to snuggle under for my SIL.
Happy sewing!

'baby boy' finished...!
LOVE pictures taken like this on other people's blogs! (don't mind the folded sheets in the background :-)
Took a lot of picures of this little quilt...it's one of those that looks better 'in person' i think. But it's
loveable & will cuddle the new baby boy coming in August that's it's made for.
Such a beautiful morning here in Michigan--thought i'd try an outside photo!! The quilt's just stippled and the binding machine zigzagged. Hoping it gets lots of use.The Creative Grids StripOff @ 60 degree ruler was great fun to use making this quilt.
Well, here's the colors for this year's garden beds---red, yellow and purple (Wave petunias). There's lots of plantin' in my Memorial Day weekend schedule. Have a happy & safe holiday. Remember the people who serve/served our country..........

What the heck---home dec!! :-)
It rained cats & dogs this weekend and the DH was away. I pulled a muscle in my back cutting grass on Friday....so I did a little sewing and sitting. A friend has 2 wicker loveseats in her sun porch in bad need of new cushion covers. here's the before:
Made a paper pattern & added the gusset (is that the right term??) with a zipper and here's the 'after':
She picked very pretty fabric (50% off at Joann's) and I think they came out real nice. Just gotta tackle the big bottom cushion and repeat for the other loveseat. I've recovered before, but not in a while...so I'm very happy with the results!!
Then on Sunday, our Tiger game with the kids got rained out, so they took us to lunch and I made cookies when we got back.
Have a great week & happy sewing!! :-)

Flimsie spotted........
Baby Boy quilt in flimsie stage!! The houndstooth is flannel for the backing--this is one 'busy' quilt!! Made friends with my seam ripper for this one--but i'm happy with the end result. :-)
The pretty flowering crab my kids gave me for Mother's Day years ago...what did they mean by that?? I love them and the tree! And the lilacs are in bloom finally. The scent is on the air when you walk close enough to them--nothing better!!
Have a great weekend, all! Happy sewing....... :-)

Breakfast with friends.......
These are the lovely and talented ladies who shared breakfast and a lot of great conversation this morning! Our Liz is not pictured as she had to arrive a little later--but she made it. It was a wee send-off for Judy, the pretty gal on the left in yellow. She and her hubby are moving next week and we will miss them!! There's already talk of a 'road trip' or two in the future, and that makes us all feel better!! These are the strips I forgot to post a picture of in my last post. 5 of the lovely ladies are responsible for what will be a special quilt made from those friendship strips!!
Happy Mother's Day to all!! (here's 2 people who make mine very special!) :-)

Sun's out...Spring's here...we're pretty sure!
Planted a bucket of bright yellow pansies just to make sure spring sticks around!! We've finally hit the 60's & are promised 70 degree temps sometime next week!
I really hit the jackpot at our guild meeting last night!!! Linda G. pulled my name for the fat quarter drawing & there were 23 FQ's to take home and dream on!!
May was the month for our little group to swap strips (say THAT fast 5 times !) Another beautiful bunch o' fabric!!
Spent my day off watching our Gracie, and gladly so....she had some surgery yesterday & is recovering very nicely. If we watch her, we don't have to put that blasted collar on her! Only at night or when we've got to be gone....I think her face says it all, how she feels about the whole ordeal! She's such a good girl... :-)
Happy sewing!! (happy Spring, Michiganders.......)
