Mug rugs for a couple friends that don't read this blog...one March birthday and one April birthday. Really like the backing fabric of both also!
DH and I took an anniversary weekend in Marine City, MI at a beautiful Bed and Breakfast named The Heather House...
If you ever get the chance, look them up! Beautifully decorated and our hostess, Barbara, was wonderful. Another couple staying had the same anniversary!
There's a very nice quilt shop in the main shopping district that features a quilters' retreat in a lovely appointed upper floor. Up to 6 quilters can stay and sew to their hearts content! Quilting Dreams is the name.
Joan DeRue is the owner who was nice enough to give us a tour of her shop--upstairs and down!
One of the best parts of Marine City is the St. Clair River and the freighter traffic you can watch float by!!
Have a great week and enjoy some scenery and some sewing!! :-)

Your mug rugs turned out really cute. I will have to check that place out. My husband and I would love to get away for a weekend and that would be a cool place to do it. Did the quilt shop have other stuff than just reproductions?
That place looks so charming! How fun to get away like that! I am headed to your beautiful state next week for a sewing weekend - make sure the weather improves ok? :)
I didn't know either of those places existed! What a shame I've lived nearby all this time. Perhaps this B&B could be a weekend retreat for hubs and me!
Looks like you had a great anniversary weekend. Congrats! Glad you are getting out and about some.
The river has no ice in it! Wow!! Love that area - lots of memories of my childhood and the early years with DH and our boat. So glad you had such a nice honeymoon.
My husband is from Marine City. His parents still live there. I haven't been to Quilting Dreams since they moved into their new building. The old one leaked when it rained. Hugs
Your mug rugs are so cute. I've been by that B&B many times as my husband's family lives out there. I've always wanted to go inside. And I've been to Quilting Dreams too. Joan is really nice and gave me a tour of the place also. I really like her shop.
Oh my - that guest house is gorgeous ! Happy Anniversary to you both .
Your mug rugs are so neat!! I had planned to make some myself but, oh well, haven't yet!!
I LOVE bed and breakfasts! The first time I stayed in one I thought it was a little creepy, but soon got over it and loved it!!
Hope your anniversary trip was a good one!
