sunshiney sunday......

We'll take all the sunshine we can get right now, even though the temperature can't seem to decide it's Spring!! Received these flowers at a lovely luncheon with my friend Karen at her church on Saturday. Barbara's 2 roses from March 19 are still lovely, too!
Making mug rugs to beat the band--having fun using Kaffe scraps & trying different binding techniques. But since i can't show the front of them (they will be gifts), here's the backs of the finished ones. One is facing frontward--but i'll be keeping it 'cause my iron scorched the white backing! >;-/
The house block will also be a gift--but i'm hoping the recipient won't catch on! The pattern's from http://quilting.about.com/ with Janet Wickell. Really enjoy her emails and there's lots of inspiration on that site.
Last (& hopefully least) here's a picture of the short hair....:-)   Can anyone else out there take a decent picture of themselves?? Please send me advice on that if you can!! Sheesh!  Happy sewing all..........

fabric find/splurge.......!

I signed up for Pink Chalk Fabrics emails and i like their blog. While browsing, (I do a LOT of browsing) through a sales notice, they had Joel Dewberry's Deer Valley on sale!! I loved the Antler Damask and thought i'd never be lucky enough to find any after waiting soooo long to order it when it came out!! Big, giant pillows come to mind with that deer motif centered! The Erin McMoris peach Weekends bikes and the Patti Young Flora & Fauna were 2 more favorite finds. I'm learning if you see something while 'browsing' and you like/love it---don't let it get away. Feeling very lucky about these......! :-)

nice weekend........!

Went to breakfast yesterday with 6 lovely ladies from the guild...on National Quilt Day, no less!! What a great way to get to know people better than sharing stories and a meal! Next time i'll remember my camera!! Here's a picture of some pretty roses Barbara brought to the Birthday girls and all of us.
Have been looking to replace a much used/loved, puppy chewed old couch in the family room with 2 chairs. Here's the first one!! A nice brown leather recliner. The DH already thinks it's a good fit! Hmmm. (i'm glad he likes it too!!)
Hope everyone is enjoying the first day of Spring! Have a great week.

A wee bit o' the green!!

Just a bit of green for the Irish in us all today!! (actually the backing fabric for my SIL's quilt!)
Turned out to be SUCH a beautiful day here in MI. I know others have worse winters than we do--but this one just couldn't leave fast enough!! Gardening AND quilting to dream on--makes me a happy camper!!
This layer cake of Aneela Hoey's Sherbert Pips makes me happy too! What a talented lady she is! The Fat Quarter shop has precuts available and found out a LQS will have yardage in April!!
One more picture of the actual SIL's quilt top (click on it to see the pretty green fabrics).
Have a wonderful National Quilting Day on Saturday!! happy sewing!   :-)

time change tiredness...

Anyone else suffer from confusion and tiredness when we have to change our clocks to and fro?? Doing a bit of sewing--but the energy level is kinda low...! I'll blame it on 'springing forward' for now. Here's a "Just One Star" star for that project. What a wonderful idea by Laura Simpson. My friend Judy has quite a few in the guild making them too!!
Pieced together a flimsie that will finish as my SIL's quilt soon. Happy Sunday sewing everyone!! :-)

Saturday, March 5, 2011

My friend Barbara sent this beautiful postcard all the way from Germany while she was there on business and visiting family! Forgive the blurry photo--it is lovely!!
Found a tiny cut of Mary Engelbreit's fabric in a remnant bin!! Love her stuff. Will save it for just the right project.
AND....just a sneak peek at the 'rose project' for OCQG in June. Ready for borders and finishing decisions. Looking forward to making 'Just One Star' for the service people of our country. Our friend Judy has offered up the idea for our guild to make and send them. Our guild president, Karen, will mail them all together. This idea was started by Laura Simpson (of the Minnick and Simpson girls). What a great idea!!
