Keeping busy.....

Paper piecing in progress for this little quilt ("love" template from http://www.kelbysews.blogspot.com/ for Sew Mam Sew http://www.sewmamasew.com/blog2 . Barbara, the BQFF, made these sweet, smaller versions for BQFF Judy and I.
But being computer and mathmatically challenged...I couldn't figure how to shrink each letter on my printer site. Oh well--this will be a nice small quilt when it's finished. DD has her eye on it already, maybe... :-)
Just have to finish the 'e' and maybe add some of this wild fabric to the border (or at least the back!)
It's a man's tie print--with all the colors of the letters, so................
And here's a possible little applique shape for the yellow/grey baby quilt coming up--

What do you think?? There's an elephant I'd like to audition also.... :-)

It sure has been lovely weather here, and this Stargazer blooms between our house and our neighbor's. It was planted by their daughter when she was around 11 or so. She's in U of M's Nursing program now, but when I see this I remember what a happy little gardener she was, too!
Enjoy the week and happy sewing........!

Something to cuddle...........

A wee baby quilt headed to DDIL and DS in Seoul, S. Korea. Something to cuddle while they wait for the November due date! Used up all the fatquarters won from SkyeReve fabrics!! And sticking to using the stash--here's the backing fabric...
It has the very same colors as the new fabric!! Love the pansies and violets.... Just meandered the FMQ'ing and machine sewed the binding to save time and mail it out today.

A very happy little quilt to dream on while we wait for our little Miss to arrive......!
And just because these are some of the prettiest Alstromeria (sp?) I've ever seen--I had to share...
Have a great weekend--happy sewing........ :-)

Blogger's BOM for June (finally) and a start....

Designed by Cathy at Cabbage Quilts for June. Blogger's Block of the Month number 9 already! This says busy with a capital B to me--but still hopeful the finished quilt will even it all out! :-) Love the block, just not lovin' the way my fabrics are coming together in it...Oh well, we shall see......!

Cut the sweet fat quarters from SkyeReve fabrics (http://www.skyerevefabrics.com/) into 6 1/2 in squares and 2 1/2 in strips. Simple, simple baby quilt started for our grandDAUGHTER coming in November. Our DS and DDIL just told us this weekend--we are all so excited!!
Have a great week, all. Stay cool and get some sewing in.... :-)

Last guild meeting for the summer....

Once a month I get to hang out with a lovely bunch of coconuts!!(Just kidding)--I mean really wonderful women who share the same love of fabric, friendship and quilt making. There were pretty flowers on every table and plenty of delicious food for the potluck dinner...

There were 13 (i love that number!!) Cake Stand quilt block Challenge quilts to judge and vote on...
There were 4 winners, and all the entries were clever and beautiful!! This one is mine..not in the top 4--but I like it very much and it was fun to make!
Heading to the Great Lakes Quilt Museum tomorrow for another 'road trip' with 10 other guild members. We will have another 'Behind the Scenes' tour, then a visit to the museum for the 'Patterns of Inquiry" exhibit of quilts on display till September. (more pictures to follow--i'm sure ;-)
Here's the start of a possible baby quilt. The mom-to-be asked about a yellow/grey color theme...I think I'm seeing some machine applique on this one, for sure.......
Enjoy the beautiful Summer weather this weekend. If it gets too hot outside--come in and sew! :-)

Maureen sponsored the the giveaway from SkyeReve Fabrics (http://www.skyerevefabrics.com/) . Again--both are really nice sites to visit...go ahead, I'll wait :-)
