A Farmer's Wife revisited....

I'd forgotten how much fun these little blocks were to plan and cut and make!! My dear BQFF, Barb, reminded me of them this weekend. This is End of Day (#30) and Duck and Ducklings (#28).
After a few more, they'll be set out on the design wall (floor :-) for another group shot. It was nice to revisit the farm...........
Happy Fat Tuesday tomorrow--watch out for those paczci's (poonch-kees)  Have a great week!!

She likes it !!

Sarah liked her baby quilt and laughed when i told her the backing was green for their MSU Spartans! It was a lovely shower in her family home...so many showers are in restaurants and halls. This was a sweet change & it was so nice to be invited. The burp cloths were a hit too....
The tutorial for them is at http://justanotherhangup.blogspot.com/ . In fact there are many tutorials I plan to return and try from her site.  Such a great amount of talent out there!!
Completed one 'Civil War Scrappy Chain' block for March's guild exchange. It was designed by a very talented member of our guild, Lisa Burmann. Her website is http://www.burmannstudios.com/ and there is a wealth of talent and ideas there also....
Have a wonderful Sunday. Happy sewing!! :-)

a little more L O V E ........

BQFF Barbara made this for me and our other BQFF, Judy, for Valentine's Day! She surprised us both!! Mine was rolled up and placed in a pretty green bag in our mailbox on Monday evening--I must've just missed her special delivery coming home from work late......The pattern's from the http://www.sewmamasew.com/blog2/ site. Barb is a very talented quilter. She is fearless when it comes to trying something new! Judy and I are glad she's our BQFF :-)
Gave this month's FMQAL stitch a try yesterday. My feathers need a lot o' work...but they weren't as scary as I thought they'd be. Had a few tension issues (green bobbin thread coming up and thru) Room for improvement for sure--but will try again soon...

Little label for the baby quilt...shower's tomorrow. Love showers--wedding and baby...such fun, happy get-togethers..(and there's always good food ;-)
Have a wonderful weekend, all. Happy sewing.

it's funny how things happen.....

Yesterday I doodled this on a post-it next to my computer and carried it to the sewing room for a reminder. Really would like to do a quilt (at least some blocks!) ala Tonya and/or Victoria.....
While checking my favorite blogsites---This is posted  today on Sew Mama Sew's blog: http://www.sewmamasew.com/blog2/

My Mom used to say 'Great minds think alike'....and that's all good--but what are the chances?? Maybe it's a little of that ( ;-) and a little 'gift' we get from time to time if we pay attention to our life and to those in it.
Anyway --- it made me a VERY happy camper!
Not so happy that UFO isn't finished for January :-(  But it really will be nice when the quilting gets finished this weekend. (I'm only watching the commercials on Sunday!) Here it is auditioning it's spot when finished...

The free motion quilting is taking me a bit longer than expected....work gets in the way!!

I'll leave you with a photo of the lone hibiscus flower on our tree....does the center look like this year's color?? Kinda tangerine tango looking, maybe? Have a happy weekend...and get some sewing in during the Superbowl! ;-)

Guess what this is....!

It's darn near the most perfectly joined binding strips I've ever done--because of my BQFF Judy and this:
This neat little tool made it easy. It's called the Cut Right Bind Up tool by Quilters Paradise. Thanks, J!! Here's what the binding's attached to....

A baby quilt for our DS's best friend and his wife. The shower's Feb.18--so I'm WAY ahead of the game on this one!! :-)  It's backed with green flannel 'cause they're MSU Spartans....!

You have to try this recipe I printed off a sweet blogsite (whose name escapes me now!!) But this recipe is seriously fabulous!! 'Specially this time of year. Jim and I looked at each other and just said "Wow'.
Sure hope you try this, if you like lasagna....you won't be sorry!! (If the recipe is too small, I printed it from: http://www.afarmgirlsdabbles.com/ )  Enjoy!  And happy sewing this week...........

Ready, set, go........!

Errands have been run, got my hair cut (yeah!), visited with my sweet 90yr. old neighbor, have dinner ready to go AND....
the 9-patch pinned and up on the big utility table in the family room! Started some free motion circles in the 9 patches and plan to FMQ leaves in the sashings!! (hope this turns out ok...)

This is my first time joining this group and with Saturday off and no other pressing engagements ( ;-) I'm also hoping this will be a completed UFO for January.
Hope everyone has a project keeping them busy this weekend. Stay well and warm....and drive safe if we get the 5" of snow that's predicted!! Happy sewing!
